Hello, and thanks for stopping by Knottie Yeti!

My name is Bonnie and I crochet fluffy, cheerful gnomes and other uplifting, lighthearted yarn creations in small batches here in Asheville, North Carolina. While I do create other cute, cozy, and practical makes for you and your home, my studio is currently a bit of a gnomery! It just seems the world could use more gnomes in homes.

Gnomes have been described in stories as guardians with a deep connection to and respect for nature, as teachers of kindness and curiosity with an affinity for harmony. It’s fitting soulful Knottie Yeti gnomes are made in the vast, rugged, beautiful old mountains of Western North Carolina.

I design Knottie Yeti year-round gnomes to be glimmers in your day and inspire smiles, hope, comfort, grounding, resilience, and positivity. I crochet and assemble each one by hand, making their personalities different and unique. They have a wood heart under their beards and their hat can be changed for a pop of seasonal color or special occasion. Each one is named and comes with a mischief rating.

Always experimenting with natural materials, some of my gnomes are full of kapok, buckwheat hulls, lavender, and stones with special meanings. I often include some combination of a local river stone with rose quartz, smokey quartz, amethyst, or black tourmaline, depending on my plans for a particular creation. Their sparkly river stones are cleaned by hand and dried in the mountain sun and add natural weight.

Knottie Yeti gnomes can be large or tiny, squishy or firm, stand on their own or need a little assistance on your shelf. Our largest gnome to date, Pisgah, named after the national forest, is 25” around and 7.5” wide! He stands 13.5” tall with his hat flopped down and over 2.5 ft. with his hat pulled up. Sprig, one of our smallest gnomes right now, is 8.5” around and 2.5” wide. He stands 12” tall with his hat straight up. See their photo in the blue hats!

After a community vote on yarn colors, I’m currently making Mitchell the Giant Gnome. Named after the highest peak in the Appalachian Mountains, Mitchell and his winning yarn combo will be revealed and on display at Studio 19 on the upcoming Weaverville Art Safari April 25-26. See my artist page and more details here.

Stay tuned for updates and cheer!

Important to know:

Knottie Yeti gnomes and other yarn creations are meant to be home decor, sitting peacefully on a shelf. While children and pets love their fluffy beards and fun hats, they are not intended to be toys or made to withstand the daily love of our wonderful kids or animals. Small parts may pose a choking hazard.
